Proper plant food inputs and a Nutrient Management
Plan are important management tools that allow you to incorporate
existing resources into a farm plan that meets your soil's nutrient
needs and makes economic sense.
Soil fertility, soil types, soil typography, tillage practices and manure are just some of the resources that can be managed with a Nutrient Management Plan. Our experience in soil testing and crop health makes Landmark Agronomy a natural choice in helping you develop a Nutrient Management Plan.
Nutrient Management Plans are also important in preventing environmental concerns and meeting environmental regulations. Our Agronomy Territory Account Managers (ATAMs) are trained and certified to collect data and write nutrient management plans. Your ATAM can help you sort through the environmental regulations to determine management plans.
Nutrient Management Plans
590 Nutrient Management Plan (NMP)--This plan takes into account the nutrients available and addresses the use of these nutrients in your fertility program in an environmentally friendly way. NMPs have historically been nitrogen-based plans. Government cost-sharing payments are available.
Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan (CNMP)--The CNMP is a phosphorus-based NMP that also addresses the soil erosion/conservation needs of the field while taking into account the best use of the manure resource. Government cost-sharing payments are available.
Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES)--The WPDES is a permitting process administered by the Department of Natural Resources that requires a CNMP and also takes into consideration anything that could be potentially damaging to the environment (buildings, construction, clean water diversions). Unlike the first two plans, the WPDES has annual reporting requirements. Government cost-sharing payments are generally not available.
