Landmark Services Cooperative
Awards Scholarships to Local College Students
Landmark Services Cooperative recently
honored 21 area college, university and technical school
students and distributed $15,750 in higher education
scholarships at an awards luncheon. The students, from
18 area communities, each received a $750 scholarship.
This year’s recipients attend 14 different colleges,
universities and technical schools and are pursuing degrees
in a variety of studies. Several are studying agriculture,
including: Dairy Science, Ag-Business, Agriculture Marketing
and Soil & Crop Science. Others are studying liberal
arts, science and business, including: Mechanical Engineering,
Business Administration, Graphic Design, Marketing, Spanish
and History.
Landmark Board President John Blaska was joined by fellow
board members, Landmark CEO Larry Swalheim and Landmark
management in congratulating the scholarship recipients.
Blaska stressed the importance of education, especially
in today’s global economy.
“We are very proud of the high caliber of scholarship
recipients this year. We’re honored to help these students
realize their dreams. Agriculture is becoming more and
more high tech and global. That’s exactly why need outstanding
people like yourselves in our industry,” said Blaska
Since 1989, Landmark Services Cooperative has awarded
more than 200 college scholarships and has distributed
nearly $120,000 in higher education funds. Landmark scholarships
are open to all members and employees of Landmark Services
Cooperative and their children. Applicants are evaluated
and scholarships awarded based on several criteria, including
leadership, motivation, academic and life goals and extra-curricular
activities. Students must have a minimum grade point average
of 2.74 on a 4-point scale and have completed two or more
semesters at an accredited college, university or technical
school.
Landmark Services Cooperative is one of Wisconsin’s largest
cooperatives with nearly 400 employees and more than 15,000
members. It provides products and services to agribusiness,
commercial and residential customers in the areas of agronomy,
animal nutrition, energy, grain, retail and transportation.
It also provides financial support services.
