Landmark Services Cooperative Awards Scholarships to Local College Students

Landmark Services Cooperative recently honored 21 area college, university and technical school students and distributed $15,750 in higher education scholarships at an awards luncheon. The students, from 18 area communities, each received a $750 scholarship. This year’s recipients attend 14 different colleges, universities and technical schools and are pursuing degrees in a variety of studies. Several are studying agriculture, including: Dairy Science, Ag-Business, Agriculture Marketing and Soil & Crop Science. Others are studying liberal arts, science and business, including: Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Graphic Design, Marketing, Spanish and History.

Landmark Board President John Blaska was joined by fellow board members, Landmark CEO Larry Swalheim and Landmark management in congratulating the scholarship recipients. Blaska stressed the importance of education, especially in today’s global economy.

“We are very proud of the high caliber of scholarship recipients this year. We’re honored to help these students realize their dreams. Agriculture is becoming more and more high tech and global. That’s exactly why need outstanding people like yourselves in our industry,” said Blaska

Since 1989, Landmark Services Cooperative has awarded more than 200 college scholarships and has distributed nearly $120,000 in higher education funds. Landmark scholarships are open to all members and employees of Landmark Services Cooperative and their children. Applicants are evaluated and scholarships awarded based on several criteria, including leadership, motivation, academic and life goals and extra-curricular activities. Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.74 on a 4-point scale and have completed two or more semesters at an accredited college, university or technical school.
