Landmark Announces New Country Store at Markesan, Wisconsin

Landmark is excited to announce the addition of its newest Country Store location in Markesan, Wisconsin. The Markesan Country Store and Hardware, as it will be called, will be housed at the current Do It Best Hardware location at 225 East John Street in downtown Markesan.

The new store will allow Landmark feed and hardware customers to have a “one-stop shop” concept with both feed and hardware under one roof, with a joint staff to service all needs. The Markesan Country Store and Hardware will retain the entire Do It Best Hardware line-up of products and services which includes a full line of hardware and home improvement products, lawn care products, outdoor gear as well as paint mixing and a UPS shipping center. The Country Store will add the full line of livestock, equine and pet food products currently sold under the Landmark Animal Nutrition banner. This includes a full line of premium Purina equine feed, a wide selection of pet food and the full line of custom livestock rations from Landmark’s award-winning Animal Nutrition team.

“We wanted to find a way to have an improved customer experience in Markesan while also attracting a new customer base to grow the business in the area,” said Dave Haberman, Senior Vice President of Animal Nutrition for Landmark. “The new Markesan Country Store and Hardware will allow not only a greater selection for local residents, but also allow Landmark to cross-train staff which will allow us to better serve our customers each day. It is our goal to remain an important part of the community of Markesan and to continue to find ways to bring them additional products and services.”

The new store concept for Markesan comes on the heels of Landmark’s 2010 expansion and renovation of the hardware store space which created an additional 1,000 square feet of display space and added thousands of new items to the local selection. Currently plans call for unused space in the adjacent former car garage to be renovated to house the growing line of livestock and pet food options for the Country Store.

The tentative date for the new store to come online is February 17, 2012. All sales and customer service staff currently located in the Landmark Feed Mill will be available for customer orders at the Markesan Country Store and Hardware starting on that date. An open house is planned for later this spring.
