Landmark Leadership Team

Bob Carlson, Chief Executive Officer

Bob joined Landmark as its Chief Operations Officer in 2007 and was named Chief Executive Officer in January of 2011. Bob has managed cooperatives in South Dakota and Southern Minnesota, was a commercial ag loan officer with Cenex Finance Association, the director of producer lending for Cofina Financial and vice president of case management for Resolute Systems. He has a bachelor's degree in business and public administration and a master's degree in business administration with a concentration on finance. He is a participant of Leadership Wisconsin — formerly the Wisconsin Rural Leadership Program. Bob was raised on a 1,200 acre grain farm in North Dakota's Red River Valley. He and his wife have three grown children.

Brad Gjermo, Chief Operating Officer

Brad came to Landmark in the spring of 2011, bringing with him over two decades of leadership experience at the highest level in the cooperative system.  Reporting to CEO Bob Carlson, Brad is responsible for the cooperative's day to day operating activities and provides a key leadership role for Landmark's divisional management team.  Currently a resident of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Brad and his wife Dana have one daughter, Ashley.  In his free time, Brad enjoys golf, hunting and fishing.

Jason Brancel, Chief Financial Officer

Jason joined Landmark Services Cooperative as Chief Credit Officer in 2010, and currently serves as our Chief Financial Officer. Jason's cooperative career includes leadership positions with Wisconsin cooperatives serving as Credit Manager, Director of Safety and Environmental, Vice President-Energy, Chief Operating Officer and Interim CEO. Jason also worked at CHS Inc., a Fortune 100 regional cooperative based in Inver Grove Heights, MN. His efforts there were focused in the Refined Fuel division assisting local cooperatives with growing their energy business. Jason earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He enjoys traveling, numerous outdoors activities and spending time with his children.

Dan DiFonzo, VP Accounting

Dan joined Landmark as Chief Financial Officer in 2009, and has recently become VP Accounting. He has more than 30 years experience in agribusiness, serving for 10 years as CFO at Innovative Ag Services Company, an eastern Iowa cooperative. He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting. Dan and his wife have two college-age daughters.

Mike Bandt, Senior Vice President-Energy Division

Mike has worked in the agricultural cooperative industry for more than 25 years. He has been Energy Division Manager for Landmark since 1997 when the Cottage Grove Cooperative merged with the Rio Farmers Union Cooperative. Prior to the merger, Mike was General Manager of Rio Farmers Union Cooperative, Feed and Grain Division Manager and Nutrition Consultant. He holds a bachelor's degree in meat and animal science – business and industry. Mike and his family operate a small farm near Arlington where they breed Quarter horses, registered Corriedale sheep and several chickens.

Doug Cropp, Senior Vice President-Grain Division

Doug is the Grain Division Manager and has been with Landmark for six years. He works with growers in helping them set and achieve their grain pricing goals. He also serves on the board and is Secretary-Treasurer of the Wisconsin Agri-Service Association (WASA). Doug lives in Janesville and enjoys fishing, yard work and spending time with his wife and two sons.

Mike Elder, Executive Vice President-Corporate Services

Mike joined Landmark in 2003 following the merger with Union Cooperative. He holds a bachelor's degree in safety engineering and an associate's degree in fire science. Prior to joining Landmark, Mike worked as a safety and regulatory consultant with numerous agricultural cooperatives. Mike enjoys many outdoor activities and spending time with his family at their Rhinelander-area cabin.

Dave Haberman, Senior Vice President-Animal Nutrition Division

Dave has spent a career working in Animal Nutrition. Dave joined Union Co-op n 1998, managing the Animal Nutrition Division and continued in that role after the merger that created Landmark Services Cooperative. Prior to that he operated his own feed business.

Mike Halvensleben, Senior Vice President-Landmark Logistics

Mike has been with Landmark for 25 years and has headed up the Logistics Division since it was created approximately five years ago. He has worked in cooperatives all his life, beginning as a relief driver in fuel, then working in agronomy, feed sales and eventually as branch manager for the Albany Feed Mill. Mike is currently the Evansville Fire Chief, a post he's held since 2000. He and his wife have three children, the youngest of which graduated from Evansville High School in 2009.

Dan joined Landmark Services Cooperative as Agronomy Division Manager in the fall of 2010. A twenty-plus year veteran of the Ag retail industry, Dan came to Landmark with experience in several different aspects of agriculture.  A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with dual bachelor's degrees in Ag Business and Dairy Science, Dan has developed relationships with Ag retailers, cooperatives and producesr throughout south-central Wisconsin and northern Illinois during the 15 years he worked for Monsanto.  Dan currently resides near Monroe, Wisconsin where his wife Jennifer teaches at Monroe High School.  They have three children, aged 12 to 17.

Jane Wilson, Chief Information Officer

Jane joined Landmark Services Cooperative in the Fall of 2010 as the Information Technology Manager.  In this position, she oversees and coordinates every aspect of Landmark's highly intricate IT infrastructure, database and hardware systems.  Jane came to Landmark with over twenty years of IT leadership experience, most recently as a Sales Manager and Consultant with Custom Computer Systems of Wisconsins.  Jane and her husband Roger reside in Rio, Wisconsin.  They have four children and six grandchildred in their blended family.

Jeremy Henkels, PHR, Vice President Human Resources

Jeremy joined Landmark in May of 2012 as the VP Human Resources. Jeremy comes to Landmark with vast experience in the Human Resources area, most recently serving as HR Business Partner for APS Healthcare in Brookfield. He graduated from UW-Platteville in 2004 with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Business Management & Human Resources. In 2008 Jeremy earned his Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute. Henkels and his wife reside in Pardeeville with their Labrador dog and enjoy spending time outdoors participating in CrossFit programs and leading an active lifestyle, attending concerts, fixing up their recently purchased home and cheering on the Packers and Brewers.

Shannon Horstmeyer, Executive Assistant

Shannon has been a part of the Landmark team for over fourteen years.  She has previously worked in our Retail and Human Resources division and most currently has served as Landmark's Executive Assistant.  In this role Shannon works with Landmark's Board of Directors and CEO to coordinate monthly Board meetings, yearly Strategic Planning sesssions as well as serving as a liasion between Landmark's Board and Executive Management team.  In addition, Shannon serves as the coordinator of Landmark's Community Giving and Scholarship programs.  Shannon and her husband David have two sons and live on a farm near Marshall, Wisconsin where they raise and show Angus cattle.

John Blaska, President (Elected in 1995)

John was elected to the Landmark Services Cooperative Board of Directors in 1995 and currently serves as its president. He is a majority owner of The Oak's Golf Course (www.golftheoaks.com) as well as owning and managing 300,000 sq. ft. of commercial real estate, primarily warehouse and retail office space. In addition, John farms 150 acres of corn, soybeans and wheat.

Junior Manthe, Vice President (Elected in 1994)

Junior was first elected to the Landmark Services Cooperative Board of Directors in 1994 and currently serves as its vice president. He grows corn, soybeans and hay on 3,000 acres, provides custom baling and chopping and raises 1,200 dairy heifers at his Deforest-area farm. Junior's wife, Sherri; daughter, Tracy; and son-in-law, Mike Paulson are very active in the operation of the family farm.

Jerome Doherty, Secretary/Treasurer (Elected in 1996)

Jerry has served on the Landmark Services Cooperative Board of Directors since 1996 and is currently its secretary/treasurer. In partnership with his mother and brother, his custom farming operation in the Rio-area is a dairy and cash crop farm with 1,500 acres.

John Doerfer, Director (Elected in 2007)

John was elected to the Landmark Services Cooperative Board of Directors in 2007. Together with his father and brother, John has a dairy farm of 600 cows and a grain operation of 4,000 acres. He also operates a semi-tractor trailer company with 10 tractors and reefer, belt and hopper trailers.

Jim Fahey, Director (Elected in 2008)

Jim was elected to the Landmark board in 2008. Jim, along with his sons Chuck and Mark, operate a fifth-generation dairy farm in the Belleville area where they milk 700 cows, operate a heifer facility and grow hay and corn on 2,000 acres. Jim is also a Director on the Badgerland Financial Board — a member-owned cooperative providing capital and financial services to rural clients around the state. For more than 20 years he has been elected to the Belleville School Board, serving as president for more than a decade.

Mike Hinz, Director (Elected in 2008)

Mike joined the Landmark Services Cooperative Board of Directors in 2008 with the merger with Grand River Cooperative. He and his son operate a fourth-generation dairy farm near Pickett with 200 dairy cows and 300 acres. Mike also serves on the executive board for Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac.

Joe Schwarzenberger IV, Director (Elected in 2010)

Joe was elected to the Board of Directors in 2010. He operates a third generation farm near Monroe where he milks 80 cows, raises 60 steers, and has more than 900 acres of hay, wheat, beans and corn. He was a member of the Union Cooperative Board and hosted the Green County Dairy Breakfast in 2008. He is an active member of the Green County Drainage Board and the Green County Dairy Herd Information Association Board.

Scott Towns, Director (Elected in 2003)

Scott was elected to the Landmark Services Cooperative Board of Directors in 2003. He is the fourth-generation Towns Farms, Inc. along with his two brothers. Together they farm 500 acres and have 500 dairy cows. Replacements are raised on the farm until pregnant and then are taken to a grower. Scott is also involved in the local Lions Club and the Resolutions Committee for Dairy Farmers of America.

John Holloway, Director (Elected in 2003)

John and his wife Leslie, along with their 3 children, farm 465 owned acres along with rented ground where they grow corn, soybeans and wheat as well as developing a grass-fed beef enterprise.  John is a 1977 graduate of UW-Madison where he earned his BS in Agricultural Business Managment.  After graduation, John returned to farming and began serving the area community through various activitities and boards.  John joined the Landmark Board through the merger with CPI in 2010 and has held board positions with CPI since 2003.

Jim Lange, Director (Elected in 1994)
Lange-WEB Muskego, WI

Jim and his wife Amy live on a farm outside Muskego, Wisconsin.  They have two children, Kristi and Steven.  Together they own and operate 1,800 acres of cash crop corn, soybeans and wheat. Jim attended two years at Southwest State University in Marshall, MN before beginnning his farm career in 1978.  Prior to joining the Landmark Board during the CPI merger in 2011, Jim served as Board President for CPI during his 16 years as a Board member.

Scott VanderVeen, Director (Elected in 2009)
VanderVeen-WEB Clinton, WI

.  Scott, along with his wife, parents and brother Bruce operate VanDell Farms Inc.  The operation consists of 375 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa along with a 100 cow dairy, young stock and a 100 sow farrow to finish hog operation.  Scott is a graduate of the UW Farm and Industry Short Course Program.  Prior to joining the Landmark Board during the CPI merger, Scott also served on the Board of the Wisconsin Pork Producers Association and the SE Wisconsin Pork Producers along with many community organizations.
